Hello,
I have some problems with the actual sane backend for MX715 devices. scanimage: open of device pixma:04A9175D_20C2C2 failed: Operation not supported scanimage (sane-backends) 1.0.23; backend version 1.0.23
device `pixma:04A9175D_20C2C2' is a CANON Canon PIXMA MX710 Series multi-function peripheral I used the actual pixma backend. Is there any chance to fix the problem. How can I help?
Greetz Sascha

How can I help? Could you read "man sane-pixma" and use the debug variable to get more output? You'll need to run from the command line: export SANE_DEBUG_PIXMA 3 xsane (or scanimage) If there is a bug in the initialization, then maybe we will need Windows USB sniff results also, but as a first step, we should be able to see if something is clearly wrong or not. Hello,
please note that MX710 is experimental in 1.0.23. You need to set the environment variable PIXMA_EXPERIMENT to non-zero, e.g. export PIXMA_EXPERIMENT=1. You will get a corresponding hint after enabling debug outputs on the command line, e.g. with export SANE_DEBUG_PIXMA=1 Alternatively you can use 1.0.24git. Then you don't need to use PIXMA_EXPERIMENT. Hello,
as this is a older post and nothing new is comming up here, I would like to give some informations about the MX 715 with sane-1.0.23 If I set the variable I'm getting this output: [sanei_debug] Setting debug level of pixma to 3. Hello, Can you try with USB connection? (maybe that will also show up any permissions problems)This device is part of the Canon MX710 family. I think the first thing to confirm is whether the pixma driver works or not. That means, if I read your debug output correctly, that you would be better off using USB connection, rather than an ethernet connection. It is possible that the ethernet driver layer has a problem, even if the pixma backend works perfectly well. Hi Stephan,
Please create a logfile with 'export SANE_DEBUG_PIXMA=1', 'export SANE_DEBUG_PIXMA=11' and 'scanimage 2>pixma.log >image.pnm'. What Distribution (Name + 32/64 bits) are you using? I also need an usb sniff file from a Windows machine of an approx. 5mm x 5mm area color scan @ 75 dpi using http://benoit.papillault.free.fr/usbsnoop/. In the meantime you can install SANE from git as described in README.linux (http://www.sane-project.org/README.linux). I'll create some patches for testing. Hello,
I'm using te scanner using a usb connection, but configured it so, that scanning over ethernet is also possible. The debug log commes from the pc from which the scanner is connected to. Regards, Stephan T. |

Hi Rolf,
I'm ataching pixma.log here. The Image is scanned well I'm using a almost up-to-date archlinux 64-bit. I', having problems to create a logfile with isbnoop on Win7/64-bit. I get a bluescreen if I plug in my scanner .... :( Hoefully this log file is enough. Regards, Stephan T. pixma.log |
Hi Stephan,
I found no error in the logfile. Please try to reproduce the error and log it. I read from another post that you both enabled USB and ethernet. Please check that only one interface is enabled at once. On the other hand please test scanning with all resolutions. To reduce scan time small scan areas of approx. 5mm x 5mm are ok. You don't need to create logfiles. Cheers, Rolf Am 11.05.2013 12:09, schrieb stephan_t: > Hi Rolf, > > I'm ataching pixma.log here.
